First Loonie Meet of 2016

I met up with a few Loonies from TalkPhotography for our first photography meet of 2016.  The plan was to do a sunrise shoot at Llangorse Lake, followed by a lazy lunch, and then Pen Y Fan for sunset; a long day of photography.

Pen Y Fan sunrise shoot

I joined a few friends in December for an early morning sunrise photography trip to Pen Y Fan.  We met at the Storey Arms car park at 6:30am and began our hike.  We made it to the top fairly easily the only issue was the wind.  I’ve since bought glove and boot liners to keep my hands at feet warm.

As you can see from the gallery sunrise was a bit cloudy/foggy, however we were rewarded with great views of the Brecon Beacons when the wind shifted and blew the clouds over the ridges.

Once we decided we got the shots we wanted to get we headed back down Pen Y Fan.  We passed hundreds of people on the way down, a few of them were trying to hike in trainers!  At the bottom we had breakfast from the burger van to warm up.

After breakfast we headed to Llangorse Lake for a few more photos and then attempted to meet up with a group of paragliders to photograph them, however they were packing up as we arrived.  I look forward to trying to photograph them in the future I’ve never tried panning a paraglider before.
